Monster MV Symbolism Pt. 2.

Tell Me Goodbye [BIGBANG] Music Video Explanation (by toptopia) GD and Yoo Ina (the girl) are in love. TOP, the head of what is presumably a dangerous gang, is obsessed with Ina but knows that she will never love him back. He calls and orders his guys to go kill Ina in the hotel he knows Ina to be in, where she is supposed to meet with GD later. At some point, the investigator Seungri is notified of this murder plan, but he doesn’t know that TOP is behind all this. TOP is actually a good friend of Seungri’s, and he confides in TOP often when he has troubles in his investigations. This time is no exception: TOP knows of every detail of the murder he ordered, straight from the investigator himself. Ina successfully escapes the murder attempt in the hotel, and is picked up by TOP who was “coincidentally” nearby; but this was the part of TOP’s plan. Once she gets in the car, she realizes that this is a trap, but she cannot do anything now except to regretfully look back at the hotel where GD should be waiting. When TOP first appears in the car, his window has a crack already. Then we have an explanation of that crack: according to TOP’s plan, Daesung has shot through the window. Ina is shot and TOP got a bit of scarring on his face as well, from being near the window when Ina was shot. Ina is now dead and Bigbang members sing over her tomb. GD is never able to forget her, and spends his remaining days waiting and drinking in the front entrance and the hallway of the hotel she never showed up in. Taeyang isn’t really a character of importance in this MV, but he also spends his days remembering Ina and playing on the piano she played on before she died. TOP regrets having Ina killed, but now there’s nothing he can do. He drives around the car that Ina died as a reminder of her.

![]() CAFE by BigBang
Cafe- Big Bang (translation by toptopia) yeah, i remember when you walked through that door, sat down in that chair *Only the white chair on which you sat remembers your fragrance An habitual cup of ice coffee espresso double shot Oh please don’t leave me alone, what do you want me to do? Tell me the truth, why is today so different from yesterday? *repeat Please, just don’t say that you don’t need me anymore Oh my god, I can’t bury it even if I tried, *repeat When you feel lonely, [the cafe] is always waiting for you *repeat When I’m lonely, when I miss you — The narrator, as you can probably tell, is suffering a heartache because of a breakup with his girlfriend. The cafe is the metaphor for the narrator, while the white chair is the metaphor for the girl. The narrator is often dark, whereas the girl is ‘white.’ The “night when everyone is asleep” describes the narrator’s world, in which he feels completely alone and abandoned. this concept is again enforced again and again, such as the description of cafe as empty, the description of narrator sitting alone in a lightless room, the description of Seoul as a desolate desert. The only source of light in his life and of this cafe is the girl, represented by her white chair. His heart is the only part of him that is not totally consumed by the darkness, because it is a gallery full of her [the light]. The bolded part of the lyrics is perhaps the most important in this whole song. It explains that the cafe, or the narrator, is now nothing except his memories. a cup of coffee, a folded bookmark. The “white home” is the white chair in the cafe since it is what houses the girl’s fragrance and memories that the narrator has of her, and that means the white home is, ultimately, the girl herself. The white chair being within the cafe represents the girl still being present in the narrator’s heart, and the rain over the white home represents the narrator’s tears over her memories. Everything in the cafe induces memories of her: the tables with their names carved in, the white chair that she sat in. It’s notable that caffeine is often what brings those memories in, but despite trying to ‘bury’ the memories the narrator cannot stop visiting the cafe. The memories he has of her is what keeps him living. ![]() (Source: allthoseprettyfaces)

(BIG BANG)
Still Alive *I’m still alive, I’m still alive, I’m still alive The girl that loved me looks miserable All that’s left of my youth are juts pictures The melody of my life is lead by ME Even if everyone leaves, The world told me that I couldn’t be *repeat A sigh of pity replaces the applauding screams that disappeared without a trace. In this age of sentimentality, my apologies and regrets are supposedly a devil’s broadcast scarier than the mass brainwash into worshiping (the corrupted politicians, maybe). Don’t assume things. Even if everyone leaves, The world told me that I couldn’t be *repeat

monster mv: labels.
the mv represents bigbang’s struggles against media’s labeling them as ‘monsters’ (because of last year things). the cables represent media, and bigbang member’s ‘normal’ self have a hard time running away from their monster-like identity (that the media portrays them as) because of the cable’s tangles. you can see that the walls are labled with codes and so are the members (ex. seungri’s forehead, daesung’s chest). this really signifies the ‘labeling’ part. no matter who they are (or strive to be) and no matter what path they choose, the codes are written already. it’s worsened by the fact that even if they don’t take the paths of their first choice, the alternate path is labeled anyway. gd is out in the open in the midst of the bombing, and it’s clear that he’s the victim here because he’s not the one with the bombs. he’s the one being targeted. but he’s the one with the horn. in one part, top is covered in darkness and only his eyes are shown. his identity is not cared for, and people cover him up to create their own vision of him. he’s not really a monster, but who cares? there is one part that the member(s) is/are kicking down statues. that’s them trying to break the stereotype of ‘standard beauty’ of music and trying their own styles. but that is frowned upon. every time the members go into the darkness, they ‘transform’ into monsters (most notably in the case of taeyang and seungri); likewise, every time people push aside bigbang’s true self in favor of the media’s portrayal of bigbang, bigbang becomes the ‘monsters’ that people fear and members themselves fear. so bigbang members run and run. but they can never escape. they will be monsters, perhaps forever, as long as darkness (public’s biased view) and traps of cables (media) exist. |
